Turbid Water Solutions’ innovative sediment control solutions noted as contributing factor to award win.
Congratulations to Stockland’s Aura development team in winning ‘Healthy Land and Waterways 2017 Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Leadership Award’ for their innovative ESC Program.
The Principal Contractor on site is Shadforth’s Civil, with Turbid Water Solutions contracted to supply and manage the stormwater treatment systems.
Aura is a master planned community on 2400 ha and located 2km south-west of Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast.
The development site is traversed by three waterways which flow into Pumicestone Passage, part of the Moreton Bay Ramsar site.
The local and regional environments surrounding Aura contain listed threatened species, habitats and migratory species. With public and government groups closely monitoring, it was critical to ensure the protection of these environments.
Turbid’s innovative approach to sediment control methods was noted to be above and beyond best practice, being recognised as a contributing factor to the award win.
The treatment systems included the use of multiple high-efficiency sediment (HES) basins and real-time monitoring to guide an adaptive management approach.
Organisers of the awards noted that “this progressive approach has achieved exceptional water quality outcomes that exceed currently adopted industry standards”.
